Storm Dennis Travel Information

Severe weather is disrupting our train service today.

What is happening?

Storm Dennis is currently moving across the UK, bringing strong winds and heavy rain as it moves over the country. The weather is currently disrupting our train service on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield and Matlock/Derby/Nottingham routes.

Network Rail are working closely with East Midlands Railway and other train operators in order for us to be able to run our trains.

Please be aware, planned engineering work means there are bus replacement services in place on the following routes:

  • Intercity route - between Leicester and Luton today.
  • Liverpool Lime Street/Nottingham/Norwich route - between Chesterfield/Sheffield and Stockport on today.
  • Full details of the pre-planned engineering work can be found here .

How does this affect my train?

Network Rail are taking advice from the Met Office regarding the forecast and may need to impose speed restrictions to protect customers and the railway.

Heavy Rain is currently causing disruption to our train service between Derby and Nottingham. We have rail replacement buses in place, running between Derby and Nottingham, and Derby and East Midlands Parkway.

How do I get where I need to be?

You should continue to travel as originally planned however we recommend you check your journey in advance and allow plenty of time to complete your journey and when making connections to other train services.

If you are travelling on the London St Pancras/Nottingham/Sheffield or Matlock/Derby/Nottingham route you can find full details of how to get where you need to be here .

If your overall journey has been delayed over 15 minutes you may be entitled to claim compensation, full details of how to claim can be found here: eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk/delay
