Half term family time

With all the days seeming to blur into one, it may have passed you by that half-term is fast approaching. And while having the children at home and time out of the office has become the norm, with homeschooling taking a backseat for the next week or so - you might be looking for new ways to spend some quality time together as a family.

While we wish we could help whisk you off on that next adventure, for now we’ve come up with some ways to keep the smiles coming at home until travel is back on the cards.

At home events

Laptop Zoom call

Zoom seems to have become the newest addition to every household lately. From catching up with friends and family to getting those work meetings in. But when it comes to getting those much-loved half term activities in, online workshops and events are the place to be.

Have a minecraft-lover in the family? Derby QUAD are running their MinecraftLAB on 16th February to celebrate the anniversary of Egyptian Pharaoh Tutankhamun's discovery. Experience the ancient pyramids from your own home!

Want to feed that curiosity? Every February, venues across Nottingham take part in the Festival of Science and Curiosity - a week long event which focuses on all things science, maths, technology and engineering. With a whole host of online events to get involved in from discovering undersea worlds to experiencing the feeling of space travel as well as a huge range of home activities to try with your household. Why not have a back garden scavenger hunt or do some fun home experiments? Find everything on the festival activities here

Lockdown hasn’t stopped Leicester Comedy Festival returning for it’s 28th year! A firm favourite in the East Midlands event calendar, this month-long festival is bringing the spirit and fun to your own screens. With performances from huge names from across the comedy circuit - we’re sure you’ll have the whole house in fits of giggles. And let’s be honest, we could all do with a laugh about now, couldn’t we? There’s even the UK Kids’ Comedy Festival to offer something a little more… appropriate.
