Regional

Our Regional fleet is made up of 170s, 158s and 156s.

156 and 158

The 156 and 158 is diesel multiple train. It will be phased out in the coming years.

Class 170s

The Class 170 “Turbostars” offer EMR Regional customers a more modern and reliable unit with free WiFi. They are also the first trains on the EMR network to use the permanent, East Midlands Railway livery.

With a different design to the Class 15x fleet that they replace, the Class 170 trains offer wider doors, closer to the middle of the carriage making it easier to enter and exit for passengers and offer a more accessible layout while also providing a choice of table seats.

The Class 170's are also due to be significantly refurbished, to include various upgrades including the introduction of power sockets, improved CCTV, enhanced information systems and better toilet interiors.

Our class 153 units usually run in service attached to an accessible train type (which have accessible toilets and visual information for example), this is to ensure we can provide our passengers with particular accessibility requirements, the best level of comfort for their journey. Platform staff and our onboard Senior Conductors will be able to provide information on the features available in each portion of the train. Very occasionally our class 153 units may operate on certain routes without being attached to a more accessible train, therefore we strongly advise passengers on local routes, who require it, to book assistance in advance allowing us to advise you on the best course of action.
