Road improvements to affect access to Derby station.

In March, work to repair and resurface Railway Terrace in Derby will be completed. Access to Derby station will be affected and we encourage you to allow extra time to get to/from the station.

Since July, Railway Terrace has had a one-way system in place with through access from the City Centre only, and access to/from Midland Road for public buses. The works are due to be completed in March and the road will be closed in sections throughout the month, with diversions and access limitations changing as the work progresses.

Throughout the month, we strongly advise you check before you travel and plan your route to the station. On some dates our Zone 1 Car Park, accessed from Railway Terrace, will be closed. On these dates, you may need to use our Zone 2 car park (on Roundhouse Road), or Zone 3 car park (off Midland Road) instead. If you use public transport, please be aware that the buses will be diverted on some dates, with alternative pick up and drop off points.

As there will be no access to the free drop-off area during the dates when the Zone 1 car park is closed, there will be no fee applied for a 20 minute stay in the short-stay car parks adjacent to the taxi rank outside the Hallmark Hotel, or outside the Zone 2 car park, on the Pride Park side of the station.

Railway Terrace will be closed between the Zone 1 Car Park and Siddals Road/Station Approach Junction. Work will be completed between 07:00 and 17:00 with a full road closure in place.

During the road closure (07:00-17:00):

  • Access to the Zone 1 Car Park will be available from London Road end only.
  • Buses will be able to access the Station Forecourt for pick up/drop off. Buses will use a diversionary route via London Road and Traffic Street.

The junction of Siddals Road, Station Approach and Railway Terrace will be closed fully between 07:00 and 17:00.

If you parked before the road closure, you will be able to retrieve your car but there may be a delay as this will require support from the highway contractors.
