Great Central Railway

The UK’s only double track, main line heritage railway

Embark on a journey to the past like no other. This is the only place on the globe where you can see two steam trains passing one another on separate lines – just as they once did in the golden age of rail travel.

Wonderful views and striking light shows

Gold award-winner for the East Midlands’ best visitor experience, this is one of our most exciting heritage lines. Don’t miss the museum at Loughborough Central Station to learn more about the railway, and keep your eyes peeled for the magnificent views between Quorn & Woodhouse and Rothley stations. Or get behind the controls and experience the thrill of driving a steam or diesel locomotive .

You can also enjoy a range of events throughout the year. From fish and chip trains to spectacular light shows, they make for truly unique days out. Be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
