Travelling via Kings Cross

Your Alternative Route

Because of the disruption on our route to/from London St Pancras the quickest and most comfortable way of completing your journey is to navigate around the problem by travelling via London Kings Cross instead. We've already spoken to the relevant Train Operators so your existing ticket will be accepted on your re-routed journey.

If you're currently at London St Pancras and need to find your way to Kings Cross it's a case of crossing the road as the two stations are directly next to each other. You can view the walking route here.

Where to change trains

In order to get you back to your destination on our route once you have diverted around the problem, you will need to change trains somewhere on your journey.

The list below assumes you are starting your journey from London but all of the alternative routes are the same in the opposite direction too.

At London Kings Cross you should catch a train calling at Doncaster. From there you can change for trains to Sheffield. You may need to change again at Sheffield if you are travelling to Chesterfield

What to expect on board

When things go wrong we don't want your on board experience to suffer that's why we work closely with other train operators to ensure you receive the best possible service. Your ticket will be valid in the same class of travel where capacity allows. This means that if you have a first class EMR ticket, you will be able to use it in First Class on your alternative route as long as space allows.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) run the majority of the long distance trains to/from London Kings Cross. As part of their Coronavirus response they ask customers to book a seat reservation before boarding the train. You can do this up to 5 minutes before your train here. If you are unable to book a reservation, don't worry, we will still get you where you need to be but you may experience boarding controls.
