The World Cup of Stations 2025 is celebrating Britain’s most life-changing stations from the past 200 years as part of Railway 200.
Railway 200 celebrates the 200th anniversary of the modern railway, which changed Britain and the world forever. 20 stations have been shortlisted from across the country, chosen for the powerful stories that show how stations have shaped people’s lives and communities.
20 stations have been shortlisted from across the country, chosen for the powerful stories that show how stations have shaped people’s lives and communities. The shortlist includes stories of stations that:
- Played a part in historic national events such as wartime evacuations.
- Became gateways to international trade, travel, and migration.
- Served as cultural landmarks and architectural icons.
- Provided lifelines for local communities, from work and education to first meetings and family reunions.
The winner will be decided by the public vote, which is open from Monday 13 October to Friday 17 October via the competition webpage’s online voting form. The winning station will be announced on Monday October 20.
