If you’d like to explore multiple locations on our network, or take a long day trip with a few stops along the way, these tickets are ideal. Our Rover tickets give you unlimited travel in a defined area for up to seven days. Or get unlimited one-day travel with our Ranger tickets. You can:

  • Hop on and off as much as you like within a certain area
  • Use on weekends and off-peak services
  • Create your own route

The tickets

Get unlimited one-day travel on local trains in the East Midlands Day Ranger area after 09:00 Monday to Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

Get unlimited travel for either seven days in a row, or any three days within seven consecutive days, after 09:00 Monday to Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

The East Midlands Rover area includes travel north and east of Milton Keynes via Bedford or Coventry and up to Sheffield, Grimsby and Skegness.

Get unlimited one-day travel between Doncaster, Lincolnshire, parts of Nottinghamshire and Peterborough after 09:00 Monday to Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

Not valid on Saturdays in July or August.

Get almost unlimited one-day bus and train travel within Derbyshire for one adult and one child under 16. It’s valid on trains after 09:00 Monday to Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

You can also use your ticket for direct journeys between Derbyshire and Sheffield, Burton-on-Trent, Macclesfield, Leek and Uttoxeter. Nottingham and Beeston stations sell special Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets that include rail travel from there to Long Eaton or Langley Mill.

You can buy the Derbyshire Wayfarer from Alfreton, Beeston, Burton on Trent, Buxton, Chesterfield, Derby, Long Eaton, New Mills Newtown, Nottingham and Sheffield rail stations, plus bus company travel offices and tourist offices in Derbyshire. It’s not available to buy on-board.

Get unlimited travel in the Heart of England Rover area for either seven days in a row, or any three days within seven consecutive days, after 09:00 Monday to Friday and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays.

Buy Heart of England Rover tickets at staffed stations in the rover area.

Get unlimited rail, bus and tram travel on participating services within the Nottingham area. It’s valid on all EMR and CrossCountry trains within the travelcard boundary – Beeston, Bulwell, Carlton, Netherfield, Attenborough and Nottingham.

Buy Robin Hood day tickets from Beeston and Nottingham stations and on the train.

You can also buy day tickets on buses, trams and travel centres in Nottingham. Or buy a Smartcard in advance from the Broadmarsh shopping centre, Victoria bus station, the NCT Travel Centre, Nottingham Tourist Information Centre and ticket vending machines across Nottingham.

How to buy a ticket

Most Ranger and Rover tickets can be bought on the day or in advance at any National Rail station ticket office.

If you’re travelling from an unmanned station, some tickets can be bought on board the train.

You can only buy the Derbyshire Wayfarer from Alfreton, Beeston, Burton on Trent, Buxton, Chesterfield, Derby, Long Eaton, New Mills Newtown, Nottingham and Sheffield rail stations, plus bus company travel offices and tourist offices in Derbyshire. It’s not available to buy on-board.
