Is this the railcard for me?
The 16-17 Saver Railcard is for anyone aged 16 or 17 looking save on train tickets.
When can I use it?
You can use it to save on train tickets to school, college or work – even before 0930!
How do I use it?
Buying tickets online
Select the 16-17 Saver Railcard option from the railcards dropdown.
Using the ticket machine
Once you’ve chosen your route, select the 16-17 Saver Railcard button.
In the ticket office
Show your 16-17 Saver Railcard when buying your ticket.
On the train
You must keep your railcard on you when you travel, so you can present it during your trip. If you forget, you will need to buy a new ticket. If you have a digital railcard and your phone runs out of battery or gets lost, you can swap your railcard onto another mobile device.
How much does it cost?
A 16-17 Saver is just £30 and is valid for one year or until your 18th birthday, whichever comes first.
Are there any restrictions?
Yes – you cannot use the 16-17 Saver Railcard on ScotRail or Caledonian Sleeper services. Other than that, there are no day or time restrictions.
