Save money when you travel together
GroupSave Train Tickets for three to nine people
If there are three to nine people travelling together, you can save around a third on adult fares with a GroupSave ticket – plus take up to four children with you for just £1 each. It’s the easy way to enjoy cheap off-peak train travel with friends or family.
Please note: GroupSave tickets are not available online – buy at any EMR ticket office or onboard if there is no ticket office at your station. Not all train routes offer GroupSave rail tickets.
What are GroupSave Train Tickets
GroupSave train tickets are a type of discounted ticket offered by EMR for groups of travellers. This ticket allows groups of three to nine people to travel together at a reduced price compared to buying individual tickets. Here’s a breakdown of how group save works:
Key Features of GroupSave Train Tickets:
- Save around 1/3 on adult off-peak fares
- Up to four children travel for £1 each
- Available on many EMR regional and local routes – check before you travel
- All passengers travel together on the same train
- No need to book in advance – just buy before you board
Off-Peak Only
GroupSave tickets are usually available for off-peak travel, meaning they cannot be used during the busiest travel times (such as early mornings). The specific times vary, so it’s important to check the details when booking.
Same Travel Time
All members of the group must travel together on the same train for the entire journey to benefit from the group discount. Splitting up the group during the journey would invalidate the discount.
Applicable Routes
Not all train routes offer GroupSave rail tickets. They are commonly available on regional and local routes rather than long-distance or high-speed services. Always check whether GroupSave is available for your specific journey. Journeys in and out of London are not eligible for GroupSave.
How to Buy GroupSave Train Tickets
You can buy GroupSave tickets at any EMR ticket office or from our onboard team if no ticket office is available at your station. Remember – GroupSave is valid for off-peak services only, and all passengers must travel together for the entire journey.
There may be restrictions on the journeys, dates and times you can travel with GroupSave. For more details, check with our specialist sales team on 01332 502 734 or 03457 125 678 (option 5).
If you’re travelling from East Midlands Parkway or Loughborough, you can also choose a Park & Ride ticket and save on your car parking and train travel.
