East Midlands Railway to hold open day for former Thomas Cook Employees

  • Overview of On Train and Station roles and tips about recruitment process
  • Opportunity to meet current employee that have made the transition from airline to railway.

EMR is offering former Thomas Cook employees from across the East Midlands the opportunity to come along to an open day on Monday 21st October to learn about a career in the railway and the potential roles available.

The open day will take place at the EMR Customer Service Academy in Derby and potential candidates can sign up to two available time slots; 16.30 - 17.30 or 17.30 - 18.30.

Kirsty Derry, HR Director for EMR said: “We were truly saddened to hear the news about Thomas Cook and would like to send our support to all of the employees who suddenly lost their jobs at the end of September.

“We have planned an open day to give any former Thomas Cook employees the chance to come along to gain an insight in to the railway, with hints and tips about our recruitment process.

“These people have the skills and expertise we are looking for at EMR. This could be the start of a new journey and we welcome everyone to come along to see if we have a role that is perfect for you.”

The former Thomas Cook employees can expect to hear about EMR’s On Train and Station roles, as well as gaining valuable information about the talent pool process. They will learn what to expect from application to joining EMR and the benefits a career in the railway offers.

There will also be an opportunity to meet some current employees that have made the transition from airline to rail who can talk about their experiences.
