  • Free food, snacks and drinks on all EMR longer distance Intercity services
  • New complimentary menu offered all day Monday to Saturday
  • Options include hot breakfast food and a range of cold items– as well as vegan and gluten free options

East Midlands Railway (EMR) has refined it’s all day complimentary food menu for its First Class Intercity customers, offering a range of options - no matter what time they choose to travel.

The changes will mean, instead of a small number of services offering complimentary food in the morning, the company will now offer a range of free food and drink items on all its longer distance Intercity services, all day, Monday to Saturday, with plans to extend the offer to Sundays in the future.

Customers travelling First Class during the morning will now be able to choose a hot complimentary bacon or sausage ciabatta, porridge, or a vegan breakfast burrito. While in the afternoon, they will be offered a chilled sandwich, wrap or salad, or the choice of a gluten free meal or vegan option.

The hot and chilled range is accompanied by a wide choice of savoury and sweet items such as crisps, pretzels, cakes and brownies - and there is also the option of gluten free biscuits too. The products served on board change weekly to ensure variety for regular travellers.

EMR is currently working on menu plans for standard class customers and more information will follow soon.

Neil Grabham, Customer Services Director for East Midlands Railway, said: “We’ve reacted to the changing demands and travelling habits of our customers to offer this new modern menu to all our First Class customers.

“Now, regardless of the journey length or time of travel, First Class customers can benefit from complimentary food and drink throughout the working week and on Saturday too.

“For any customers who want something warm in the morning to get their day off to a good start, or just fancy a quick snack, our fully complimentary menu definitely delivers.”
