Eye-catching signs at train station promote district
New nameplates have been unveiled at Market Harborough railway station to promote the Harborough District as a great place to live, work and visit.
Harborough District Council is the official 2020 sponsor for Market Harborough station and, as part of this, four specially-designed nameplates have been installed on the newly-renovated platforms.
Two of the nameplates promote the Invest in Harborough District initiative which was launched by the Council in March 2019 with the aim of attracting businesses and investment into the district.
The other two focus on the Visit Harborough District initiative, launched by the Council in June 2019, to promote tourism and local attractions to potential visitors.
Cllr Phil King, Leader of Harborough District Council, said: “We hope these new nameplates will catch the eyes of the thousands of people using, and passing through, Market Harborough railway station every day, encouraging them to visit and invest in the district, creating a positive knock-on effect to local businesses and the local economy.”
Neil Grabham, Customer Services Director of East Midlands Railway (EMR), said: “We are delighted to recognise our close work with our local partners and to celebrate the communities and regions we serve across the East Midlands. We hope this collaboration with Harborough District Council will help to promote Harborough District as a great place to live, work and visit.”
Last year, Harborough District Council unveiled colourful posters at the train station – the second most used railway station in Leicestershire – to entice people to visit attractions, shops, businesses, cafés and restaurants across the Harborough district, as well as handy tourism guides available for people to pick up.
